Parent Reviewers Blog Tours: Toddler Tote
I would be lying if I said that I understood my daughter’s fascination with seemingly simple toys. Her love of cardboard boxes and FedEx envelopes baffles me to no end, and yet, I was skeptical of the “Toddler Tote” by Lauri Toys when I received it in the mail. It consisted of nothing more than different geometric shapes and animals made out of rubber and 7 plastic pegs in a cardboard carrying case. And while the vivid colors were eye-catching, I had no clue that these items would be the answer to my WAH mommy prayers.
You see, I was hired to do some design work for a MAJOR event and it has required me to work around the clock for almost two weeks now. And because I work from home, this has proven to be a battle of wills between my two year old and my job. But the Toddler Tote rescued me from what would have probably ended with me screaming and crying in a heap on the floor as my daughter ran through the house naked and jumping on the furniture.
My daughter has been playing with this non-Made-in-China toy for hours on end. She names all of the shapes, colors, and animals. She pretends to fly a plane or swim with fish and has even counted all of the pieces. Her favorite activity and the one that makes her concentrate the most is trying to put the puzzle pieces back together. It has been amazing to watch.
From a Mommy perspective, The Toddler Tote is perfect for imaginative play, which is a skill that children, thanks to technology, don’t get to develop any more. And I love the simplicity of it as it is very easy to take it in the car… Continue reading
Parent Reviewers Blog Tour: My Mommy’s Tote
Like many other parents, I am constantly looking for playthings for my daughter that will keep her occupied for more than 5 minutes. More importantly, I am always looking for toys that will interest her more than my own. It’s not easy, so when I was asked to review the My Mommy’s Tote interactive, life-saving board book, I practically begged to be included on this Tour. You see, my daughter LOVES my pocketbook. She loves to carry it, swing it, empty it, and claim all the contents of it as her own.
My Mommy’s Tote is a purse-shaped board book with cardboard keys attached to its fabric handles. Its pages are filled with everything from a cell phone, to a clock, to a really cool laptop and more. And nestled deep within the the pages is a dry-erase board and marker for the times that my daughter feels like “DWARING.” The tote also has a maze to solve and blurbs to remind Mom just why it is so cool to be a Mommy.
When I received the tote in the mail, I wanted my daughter to be surprised when she saw it- I wanted to see if she would be interested. As she slept for the night, I read through it and decided to leave it on the table for her to see in the morning. And see it she did. She loved it so much that for the first day all she did was sit with it on her lap and “WEAD.”
Not only does the book allow her to feel like a big girl, there is so much in there for parents to use as learning tools. Most of the contents of the tote are clearly labled and brightly colored for identification. Don’t forget, the Tote… Continue reading
