Product Review: Win a Yoplait Fun Pack

image found @ http://5minutesformom.com

My daughter, who used to eat everything (except meat), is suddenly very picky about her food.  What makes this a problem is that I am trying very had to ensure that my family eats better and more healthily. In doing so, I spend a lot of time looking for better snack foods for my family. Yoplait Kids found about a month ago when I was offered a chance to test the product.

Yoplait Kids yogurt is the perfect snack for a picky eater. She loves the bright colors of the container and of course, Dora’s prescence on the side is an added bonus. But for me, the true test of a product is its nutritonal value. With live and active cultures, omega-DHAs, and only 26 grams of suger per 8 oz. And best of all it tastes great, contains no artifical flavors or colors, and  it comes in a drinkable version too.

So, here is your chance to win a Yoplait Prize Pack which contains a educational games for children called Brain Quest, one coupon for free yogurt, and a travel cooler back. All you have to do is leave a comment here and link to my site somewhere on yours between now (October 16, 2008) and Novermber 1. Then, I will randomly choose a winner using Random.org.

So what are you waiting for? Enter!

note: coupon is not valid in all states such as Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, California, North Dakota and Tennessee

An Open Letter to Moronic Fashion Designers for Children

Dear MFDC:

I love to go shopping for my daughter but it is becoming more of a hassle than it is worth. People who know me think that I am overly-protective of my daughter. In fact, sometimes, I think that I may be too, but then I go clothes shopping for her and realize that there is no such thing as being too protective. I am a parent and protecting my child is what I should be doing. But I am feel like I am figthing against corporate giants who want me to fail.

I did not think that I had would have to sayl this to adults, but my daughter is 30 months (2 years 6 months). She does not need a two-piece bathing suit. She does not need a thong, or a tube top, or really short skirts. She does not need high heels, or wedges, or flip flops. She does not need pants that say “Juicy” or “Apple Bottom” or anything for that matter.

She is a child.

She needs clothes that do not sexualize her.

She needs to develop a strong sense of self before her self-esteem is challenged through thoughtless marketing and idiotic objectifications.

She needs to be a child.

And you should be ashamed.

Thank you,

An Irate Parent

Parent Reviewers Blog Tour: My Mommy’s Tote

Like many other parents, I am constantly looking for playthings for my daughter that will keep her occupied for more than 5 minutes. More importantly, I am always looking for toys that will interest her more than my own. It’s not easy, so when I was asked to review the My Mommy’s Tote interactive, life-saving board book, I practically begged to be included on this Tour. You see, my daughter LOVES my pocketbook. She loves to carry it, swing it, empty it, and claim all the contents of it as her own.

My Mommy’s Tote is a purse-shaped board book with cardboard keys attached to its fabric handles. Its pages are filled with everything from a cell phone, to a clock, to a really cool laptop and more. And nestled deep within the the pages is a dry-erase board and marker for the times that my daughter feels like “DWARING.” The tote also has a maze to solve and blurbs to remind Mom just why it is so cool to be a Mommy.

When I received the tote in the mail, I wanted my daughter to be surprised when she saw it- I wanted to see if she would be interested. As she slept for the night, I read through it and decided to leave it on the table for her to see in the morning. And see it she did. She loved it so much that for the first day all she did was sit with it on her lap and “WEAD.”

Not only does the book allow her to feel like a big girl, there is so much in there for parents to use as learning tools. Most of the contents of the tote are clearly labled and brightly colored for identification. Don’t forget, the Tote is actually a Book too. As you can see, she loves this book. She likes being able to draw and erase in a book without hearing me scream, “NOOOOOOOOOOOO” and  I feel better because hse can associate reading with writing. My Mommy’s Tote earns 2 thumbs up from this mom and her little girl.
