You came back! You Like me, you really like me!. Great. I appreciate your loyalty. Now leave some comments it's the only adult interaction I get!
Well I’m a little late to the party which is so unlike me. I can’t stand tardiness. But alas, it’s hard to be on time when you found out about the party less than 10 minutes ago. Nonetheless, better late than never,
My name is Kristina Brooke. It’s very nice to meet you. Mom on the Rise came to me one night when I realized that my desire to be “more” suddenly took over me after becoming a mom. Having a child made me realize that the life of “almost doing” was not longer good enough. So, I decided that teaching other kids was just not enough for me and I needed more. I am learning to find the time to get it all done and stay sane.
My husband and my daughter make me smile non-stop. They remind me that good exist in the world and that I am special. My hubby and I have been together for 13 years and married 7 years this August.
I have a lot of hobbies- many of which are rather nerdy. I like web design and choose to code using Notepad rather than a WYSIWYG editor. I enjoy reading about gadgets and watching true crime TV. I enjoy learning even when what I have learned is rather trivial. I’m addicted to all things Anne Rice and a good book can actually shut me up- which says a lot. (A word about Anne Rice: all of you Twilight fans- you have been completely duped by this inadequately written series. Anne Rice is the champion when it comes to Vampire tales). I am a knitter, crocheter, and writer (of adult fiction too).
My family has been through a lot of heart ache over the last year with the loss of my oldest sister and my father-in-law. But as my husband and I know, tragedy makes you stronger than you could ever imagine. I learned that early in life as I am a Rape Survivor and am trying to share my story so that others learn from my family mistakes.
I am a TravelingMom and host TravelingMom TV on MingleMedia TV every Monday at 9:00 PM and on MomTV every Friday at 8:30 PM. I talk about travel, homeschooling, and exploring the world as a Mom of Hue in an interracial relationship.
Of course I have to mention that I am also on a mission to lose 195 pounds with the help of the Mamavation Sisterhood. My weight loss struggles have been a source of frustration for me, but I know that I will reach my goal.
So this is me. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit about me. See you around the Web!

The Five People I’m Tagging
I was bored and decided to make up this meme. I wanted to see how many things I could reveal about myself starting each sentence with the first letter of my name. I think it is fun, so if you want to give it a try, please do so and add your name to my Mr. Linky Box. Please do not add your name if you did not complete the meme. Oh, and be sure to change the title of you post to 30 Things About Me that Start with the Letter “______” My goal is to do a list every week until I spell out my whole first name.
OK, here I go:
1. Kristina with a “K” no “h” and ending in “a”.
2. Kristina is actually not my first name. My real first name starts with a “K” too. I have not been called my real first name since I was 3 and in fact, I have legally changed my name to Kristina.
3. Kitchens that are beautiful and functional fascinate me.
4. Kindness is my downfall and people often take advantage of me because I am too kind.
5. Kittens make me sneeze. Cats too.
6. Kindergarten is one of my favorite memories of my childhood. I went to a place that had a playground on the roof. It was fenced in really well. I don’t think anyone every got hurt.
7. Krazy Kristina was one of my nicknames in college.
8. KKK are my initials if you take out 3 of my names and include my maiden name.
9. Kid you not, I have 8 names if you include my maiden name.
10. Karaoke is one of my favorite activities despite having HORRIBLE stage fright.
11. Keeping in touch with people is not one of my strongest skills.
12. KIPP schools and their philosophy scare me.
13. “Knight Rider” was one of my favorite shows.
14. Kennedy Brooke is one of the aliases that I used on the net years ago.
15. Kennedy Space Center, in Florida, is one of the places that I want to visit over the next 12 months.
16. Knitting is fun. I taught myself to knit two years ago.
17. Keeping up with the latest trends in web design and blogging occupy way too much of my free time.
18. “Knock Out” for Nintendo was one of my favorite boxing games back in the day.
19. Karma is a bitch!
20. Kissing it the most intimate act, even more so than sex.
21. Knock me if you want, but I am Pro-Choice AND Pro-Life.
22. Killing insects is actually very therapeutic- pass the fly swatter!
23. “Kick the bucket” is not a phrase I use often, but when I do I laugh every time.
24. Knight in Shining Armour? That would be him.
25. Kind of thought this would be harder to do and never imagined that it would be fun.
26. Key Lime pie is probably the only desert that I will not touch.
27. Kooky sums up my personality.
28. “Knuckleheadz” was the name of the wannbe gang clique that I was apart of in college. I met my husband who was also a member and we don’t speak to anyone else from the group except for my best friend.
29. Kegs were never impressive to me- not even in college when I partied way too much.
30. Kick yourself into gear and join me.
My new friend Renee over at Cutie Booty Cakes asked me to write 6 things about myself that no one else knows about myself. Here I go:
1. I was bulimic all through high school and about 3 years into college.
2. I write erotica.
3. I can speed read. Although there have been studies saying that people who speed read lose comprehension, I understand and remember EVERYTHING that I read. In fact, in order for me to enjoy books, I have to read 2-3 at a time.
4. I am adopted.
5. I am a rape survivor. I was raped at 14 while at summer camp while in the infirmary with strep throat. My mother did not believe me and neither did the camp staff. In fact, I was told that I “behaved in a manner that told this young man that I wanted to have sex with him.” This sent me on a dangerous mission of self-abuse. I eventually worked through this (which I will write about soon) and became a counselor for other rape survivors.
6. I play piano. I have played since I was 6 and used to be very good. I have not played in almost ten years but when I hear certain songs, I play them on an imaginary piano.
OK, those are things that I have not shared with many people in real life. And now it is your turn. I am tagging the following:
Here are the rules:
Now, if you’ve been tagged with the meme game from twitter, you must post 6 things no one knows about you on your BLOG. Then you have to tag 6 more people. (don’t forget to let them know they’ve been tagged.) Leave me a message letting me know that you’ve accepted the tag. Let me know when you’ve posted your list and make sure there’s a link back to my BLOG. Have fun!!!
