OK, So We Never DID Have Her 2nd B-Day Party

There. I confessed. Despite sending the birthday invitations and planning the whole thing, we had to cancel. We moved the weekended of her party and between finishing the packing and getting everything into the new place, it was impossible to actually go through with her Music Soiree.

And now, months later as I was looking at the overly cute invites, I find myself feeling very guilty. She deserves a party. I didn’t really have anything special on my birthday as a child. My mom would take my sisters and me to dinner, but my oldest sister had a small case of “Me! Me! Me” and so she had to feel special too. Additionally, my other sister was born the day after me (she was older though) and for some reason that meant that we had to celebrate like twins (and often dress like them). I even got married on my birthday just to give that day some importance.

I want my daughter to have a better life than that. I want her to know that she is special and every year of her life should be celebrated. I want her to know that birthdays’ are fun and they give us something to look forward to: a day that is all about us.

Is it too late to have a party? Her birthday was in April.

No way it’s never too late to make a special day all about her! Plus I am sure everyone knows you had to cancel for very good reasons. So make it a happy Belated B-day party :)

Have the birthday party she will love it. We scrambled this year for my daughters 3rd and just invited some of her friends to chuck e cheese for free play. She won’t care when it is, as long as it’s a day about her. Oh by the way she’s adorable.
