Hello, I’m Kristina Brooke and this is the Real Me

I been struggling a lot with the direction of my blog. The commercialism of my thoughts have caused me to hate blogging and to no longer enjoy the idea of sharing with others. Then I visited my favorite blog and read Mrs. Flinger’s post about looking back through her miscarriage archives. Her post led me to here and then something reminded me about another of her posts and I ended up here. I found two comments that I left on two seperate posts when she was going through some tough times and they made me remember something that has long been forgotten. They made me remember me.

So here I am. And here is where a new life of my blog begins.

I am Agnostic in faith. I don’t know if there is a God. I don’t know about heaven, or hell, or angels, or miracles. What I do know is that when things get really bad, when life seems too much to handle- strength and hope come from the most unexpected places. And sometimes, that is all we need to help us exhale. Please know that I am exhaling with/for you because sometimes knowing that you are not alone works wonders.

Satan, God. These are concepts to me not people or rulers or omniscent forces. I believe in Human Nature. I believe in Mother Nature. I believe in hope, love, timing, decency, questioning, communication, Macbooks, you, myself, hardwork, peace, love, annoyance, freedom and control…. These are things that I can define. These are things that are universal. These things transcend language, culture, spiritual and religious beliefs. And these are real.

I feel you on the blog struggles. But, figure as long as I’m thinking about all the “stuff” then hopefully it means I still care. Good for you for re-discovering your real self.

Funny thing. I have been wondering the same thing. These conferences are great but I think they have taken me off of my course. I blog at my home blog http://www.doingsowell.com for my family and friends. However, after BlogHer I thought I wanted to go in a new direction but when it comes to values and your true self, I think I now know that I want to keep it like it is-quiet and family styled. Now that http://www.sunkissedmommy.com has launched, I feel like I can elevate that. Congrats to you on figuring it all out. I plan on posting too about this same topic.

thank you both for commenting.

@Melanie- you’re funny. I have been feeling too superficial writing reviews all the time and hosting giveaways. It’s not why I started blogging.

@Iman- yeah, I did not attend any conferences this year (not that i have any other year) but I will be next year. this blog is not a commercial endeavor- I’m writing it to share my experiences as a mom, a wife, a woman, and a entrepreneur. I have commercial sites and this needs to be my break. Congrats on Sun Kissed Mommy.

Great post, Kristina. I agree with all of you. Its waaay too easy to get seduced by all the PR folks coming at you – all the fun events and giveaways and goodies – and so quickly we can lose sight of the original reason we began to blog from the beginning.

So funny, but just last week I was chatting with my older sister on the phone, and I had casually mentioned how Chase had a couple of teeth now, was standing, etc etc (some pretty important milestones) But anyway, she exclaimed “What!!!?? Chase has teeth now? He’s standing??? You didn’t tell anyone! I didn’t read that on your blog. Did I miss that post?” She wasn’t being facetious. She was genuinely confused/surprised that she didn’t know.

Ashamed, I quickly said that I had been planning to do a blog post but just hadn’t gotten around to it just yet. Mine you, the teeth coming in had happened several weeks ago, and the standing a couple of weeks back. But in the meanwhile I had done several giveaway/review posts and my Blogalicious post. :-( Priorities, right? *sigh*

It caused me to take a step back and really, really think. I started this blog when Chase was born specifically for my family/friends who don’t get to see the baby on a regular basis. I live in NY and everyone is down south… so they don’t get to be a part of his life daily like I know they want to. So via the blog folks are able to keep abreast of his milestones and other activities, and my family really appreciates it because of how involved they feel in his life. So my sister’s stunned reaction, in a way, kind of snapped me back to reality. I immediately got off the phone and did the post called “Guess Who Has Teeth”…. *sigh* But I still haven’t updated his Milestones Page. *smh* Priorities.

Thank you for this post. I needed it – and also relieved to see that I’m not the only one who sometimes strays from my blogging path. It’s never too late to go back though, thankfully!

To thine own self be true. Not sure who said that but it is the truth. I am trying to get back on track with blogging too.
