Dehydration

GlasssplashHow do you stay hydrated? Better yet, do you know when you haven’t been drinking enough?

For the last two days I have been feeling queasy, getting headaches, and fighting exhaustion. I chalked it up to having my IUD removed and dealing with PMS for the first time in 3 years, but today things got worse.

I could barely keep my eyes open. I ate breakfast and immediately felt like I was going to vomit. My neck and my back were sore beyond relief and I could barely stand straight. I was thirsty- but the taste of water made me cringe. My skin felt dry and I was clammy. I thought something was seriously wrong with me – something that was going to kill me.

And then it hit me. I hadn’t been drinking a lot of water lately. We never keep soda in the house, but Tuesday we had a few house guest so we bought a couple of 12 packs of soda. I had been drinking a lot of soda and coffee. I had a few glasses of Crystal Light, but not much plain water. I was feeling the result of my foolish liquid selection.

I immediately began drinking water and decided that I would drink 64 ounces before going to bed no matter what. I hate this feeling and I will not allow myself to get like this again.  The funny thing is that when I was drinking Lemon Water every morning, I was getting in 30 ounces before lunch. I’m not sure why I stopped but I do know that I have to get back there.

What do you to ensure that you are drinking enough?

I’m so glad you figured out what the problem was, and also glad that you feel better! Geez, I KNOW I don’t drink enough water – and I think this post will be a wake up call for many of us. *smh* Seriously!
