Crocheted Hat

DSCN4247

My love affair with crocheting has been rekindled. I learned to crochet when I was a child. My next door neighbor Mrs. Brown used to watch me in the afternoon when my mom went to work and to keep me busy while she watched her stories (Santa Barbara) she taught me to crochet. I made countless potholders and for a while every one I knew would get a granny square potholder as a gift. I continued to crochet when I was in high school but only made a few stuffed animals and scarves.

It wasn’t until I my third year of college that I really started playing around with crocheting. My mother-in-law was responsible for that. At the time she was my boyfriend’s mother and she was determined not to like me. Crocheting gave us something to connect over and she introduced me to patterns. I recently made a hat for my daughter using the pattern Olivia’s Butterfly Hat by ValliesKids. It is beautiful hat and a easy pattern to follow. I’ve been checking out her site and want to make a few of the patterns that she has designed.

A few years back I was a member of Crochetville and I went back over there to check out the community. Unfortunately I’ve noticed that many of the crochet bloggers that I loved are no longer active in the blogging world. I’m bummed despite the fact that I myself have deleted my old crochet blog- Yarn Candy.

Maybe I will start it up again.
