Product Review: Incredibeds are Simply Incredible

My family was recently given the opportunity to review an amazing new product in children’s beds. Incredibeds are lovable over-sized stuffed characters who are sure to provide your child with one of the coolest bedrooms around. I was excited about this product because recently my daughter has been experiencing horrible nightmares and has been running into our room in the wee hours of the morning looking for comfort between mommy and daddy. And as you can imagine, sometimes the timing is a bit off. So when we were asked to review the bed, I joyously agreed hoping that this would provide her with some much-needed security. My daughter thought so too, and as we look through the images on the Incredibeds website, she became very excited at the idea that one of these beautiful characters would soon be hers.

We received Daisy last week but were awaiting the arrival of my daughter’s new twin mattresses. Luckily, despite the three-day weekend, she did not have to wait long. My husband was able to pick-up the mattresses from my mother-in-law’s house and bring them home Monday after work. I spent most of Monday cleaning and rearranging her room to accommodate the new bed. It was a rather big job as no matter how often I clean her room it seems she accumulates more stuff than it can possibly hold. By the time my husband and I finished cleaning and rearranging, breaking down furniture, and sorting through the toys (many of which she never plays with) it was rather late at night and my we were not looking forward to setting up the bed. Nonetheless my husband and I put on a big girl and big boy panties and marched on.

It wasn’t an easy task at first. The bed comes in three… Continue reading

Product Review: Freschetta FlatBread Pizza

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Freschetta. All opinions are 100% mine.

Freschetta Zesty Italtian FlatBreadAs a New Yorker, pizza is a very important staple in my diet. We have some of the best pizzerias in the world and it is very hard for me to eat anything that does not come from a NY Pizzeria. So to be fair, I decided that I would only compare Freschetta FlatBread pizza to other frozen pizza and to chain pizza (like Domino’s and Pizza Hut). I say this because nothing compares to a real NY slice of pizza and that needed to be cleared up from the start.

Now let’s get to it. Freschetta FlatBread pizza comes in four varieties: Zesty Italian, 5 Cheese, Roasted Garlic and Spinach, and Pepperoni. We tried all but the Pepperoni.

In terms of taste, Freshcetta has a very tasty crust. Unlike many frozen pizzas, the crust is crispy and very well flavored. Not only was it tasty, the crust was sturdy and did not fall apart. My husband and I also enjoyed the sauce. We both like very light sauce on my pizza and the flat bread pizzas had just enough to keep the topping on without overpowering the pizza. Unlike Domino’s Pizza, Freschetta’s sauce tasted homemade and not canned. And unlike Papa John’s pizza, the sauce is not sweet. all of the pizzas had a significant amount of cheese on them and I did not find the need to tackle my husband for the cheesy slice.

My favorite of the three that we tried was the Zesty Italian. There was a perfect mesh of pepperoni, salami, sausage, and two cheeses. I don’t like a lot of toppings on my pizza and very rarely order pizza with meat toppings, but this was really… Continue reading

Review: Easing Your Baby’s Sore Butt with Boudreaux’s Butt Paste

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. All opinions are 100% mine.

I can’t help but be relieved that my daughter is potty trained and no longer suffering from the horrors of diaper rash.  As a baby she was in pain all the time and it seemed like nothing would work. We tried everything from home remedies to a number of various products sold in drugstores. At one point we even attempted to go diaper-less all day and all night. As you can imagine it was one disaster after another.

After about the 9th visit to the Pediatrician she recommended Boudreaux’s Butt Paste (you can get a free sample). I’m sure that she could tell the my husband and I were unbelievably stressed about these rashes. At first I was very hesitant to try it because worried about using products with boric acid in them and at that point we had tried so many products. However, after asking practically every doctor in the practice as well as my mother who has been a RN for years if it would be OK, I agreed to use it- but only at night.

Truthfully, that really was all we needed because she was in her diaper the longest at night. The thick paste was perfect for preventing any additional irritation. Using Butt Paste at night and exposure to air as much as possible during the day became our go to remedy. And while I know I will use cloth diapers if I have any more children, I will always keep a tube of Butt Paste on hand just in case.

Product Review: “A Magical Beauty Collection” from Disney and Carol’s Daughter

It is so hard for me to find bath products that won’t irritate or dry my daughter’s sensitive skin. At 3 years old she has tried more products than most adults. Luckily for me,  Carol’s Daughter,  known for it’s authentic hair, fragrance and body products, has  launched a collection of hair and body products for children to honor Disney’s first animated Black Princess, Tianna (an added bonus).

Let me start by saying that I absolutely love the positive messages chosen to name each product in the line. The shampoo, “The Beauty Within” and the conditioner, “Inner Shine”, promote self-love and encourages children to find beauty beneath the surface. The bubble bath dote the phrase “Sharing is Caring” and the de-tangler (which I did not try) “Dream Big” supports good behavior and hope. They are messages that children need- especially those of color who will be specifically drawn to the images of a Princess who finally looks like them. Coupled with the fact that Carol’s Daughter was started by a woman of color, this line embodies the positive message of the film- work hard and you will succeed.

But the look, the message, and the names of the products don’t mean anything if the products are not of good quality. And they are. The shampoo and conditioner lather and spread well, a must for my daughter’s naturally curly hair which seems to absorb water and soap at an astronomical rate. In addition, they left her hair soft, moisturized, and smelling good- like almonds, sunflowers, olive and almond oils. The bubble bath contains Aloe Leaf Juice which is subtle enough to leave a trace and gentle enough not to irritate my daughter’s eczema.

The cost is a little steep (8oz bottles for $8-$10) for my liking and we… Continue reading
