I probably should have posted this before I posted the video of Mimi standing, but I think part of me just wanted to forget that it happened and the other part could not believe that it happened. On Saturday we had to rush our little girl to the hospital because she was experiencing labored breathing. To those of your unfamiliar with breathing problems, this means that Mimi was struggling to take in air and because she was breathing so hard, her lower chest looked like she had dimples.
She has been on nebulizer treatments before- severe congestion- and when we took her to the doctor on Friday she did not have a fever or an ear infection. However, it was very obvious that she was congested and there was slight wheezing. We went home with a list of instructions and planned on doing treatments with her 4 times a day. By Saturday night her breathing had become more spastic and by 5:00 PM it was obvious that that she was not going to make it through the night. So after a quick call to the doc, we raced to the hospital.
Now, I know that first time parents usually overreact, but I SWEAR, when we left home, she was crying and miserable. Of course when we get to the hospital she decided to become the Mayor of the Children’s Emergency Room. All the nurses and doctors are in love and the only evidence that she is sick is the phlegm moving around in her chest and her panting. Three treatments later and a VERY UNCOMFORTABLE nose suction procedure, we are home with liquid prednisone and instructions to do the nebulizer 4 times a day.
I think the worse part of was the trip to the Emergency room. I thought they were going to tell me that something more serious was wrong. Luckily, it is not too serious. She is doing much better and there is no reason to believe that she won’t recover quickly.
