Product Reviews: HP for Me

After the debacle that was my last printer purchase, I wasn’t really sure which printer to buy. I had the unfortunate fortune to have a BestBuy close by with a very limited selection of printers. And, as a teacher being without a printer for too long would have been a real pain. So, I gave in and purchased a HP.

I have to admit that despite my hatred of Hewlett-Packard’s use of outsourcing to man their customer service lines, I am really liking their HPC5200 All-in-One Printer. It scans, copies, prints pictures, and has built in templates for shopping list, note book paper, and mazes. You don’t need a computer to do any of this either as the HPC5200 can print directly from a memory card.

I am not going to get into the spec (DPI are not really my forte). However, I want to point out the following:

(1) While it is slow (all HP’s seem to have this problem), it prints flawless and evenly colored images.

(2) It is loud and it shakes while printing. However, it does not have any paper-feeding issues.

(3) There is a separate paper-tray for photo paper and regular paper.

(4) And this is by far the COOLEST feature: the CD label printing tray. You can print CD labels directly on to the CD with this nifty utility.

Again, I recommend this printer if you need to print good quality copies. However, if you are in a rush, stay away from HP, there are faster printers out there.

  1. Nice review. And I agree with you. I’ve had a HP printer for about 3 years and it never let me down so far. Hopefully it won’t too soon.
